Robert Pattinson: «E adesso un figlio da Kristen» 
Gli piace pensare di essere cinico come il personaggio che interpreta in Cosmopolis, il suo nuovo film in concorso a Cannes, «ma la realtà è che sono un ingenuo». Però sul resto ha le idee chiare.

Uomini in abiti da sartoria, body-guard in auricolari e occhiali a specchio. Il cielo sopra Mahhattan è una cappa grigia e, nel corso delle due ore di Cosmopolis, virerà sempre di più verso il nero. Eric Packer, ragazzo d'oro della finanza, entra in una limousine e il suo autista, faccia scolpita da uomo dei servizi russi, lo informa che il traffico è paralizzato per la visita del presidente degli Stati Uniti. Ma a lui non interessa: ora ha solo bisogno di un buon taglio di capelli, e l'unico barbiere in grado di soddisfarlo si trova dall'altra parte della città. (...) Trasporre in un film hollywoodiano uno dei romanzi più visionari di Don DeLillo – scritto nel 2001, è una profezia di Occupy Wall Street e di tutto quello che stiamo vivendo – era una missione impossibile che solo a un regista coraggioso come David Cronenberg poteva riuscire. E solo a un regista coraggioso come David Cronenberg poteva venire in mente di affidare la parte da protagonista a Robert Pattinson.È vero che Pattinson non è solo Twilight, la saga che si concluderà il 14 novembre con Breaking Dawn - Parte 2: tra un episodio e l’altro, ha recitato anche in Remember Me (2010), Come l’acqua per gli elefanti (2011) e nel recente Bel Ami - Storia di un seduttore. Ma è evidente che un personaggio come questo può fare per lui la differenza tra il restare ancorato ai canini del vampiro Edward Cullen e il venire ammessi nel club degli attori di serie A.
In Cosmopolis – presentato a Cannes – Pattinson mantiene il pallore che ha fatto innamorare, in tutto il mondo, ragazzine e ragazze cresciute; l’aria romantica di Edward, però, è sparita. (...)


Si è fatto un’idea del perché David Cronenberg abbia scelto proprio lei?
«Sinceramente, no. Ma non me lo sono mai chiesto: sono solo contento che lo abbia fatto». (...)

In Cosmopolis ci sono scene di sesso decisamente esplicite: non ha provato imbarazzo?.
«Più che altro ero nervoso per le attrici. Quando un uomo si spoglia si sente magari stupido, ma in fondo si diverte. Credo che per una donna sia qualcosa di diverso, di più problematico».

Nella vita reale è più dolce o passionale?
«Passionale, mi auguro». (...)


Uno dei suoi migliori amici, l’attore inglese Tom Sturridge, aspetta un figlio da Sienna Miller. Le piacerebbe diventare padre?
«Certo. Non so se proprio subito, però sicuramente sì».


Avete già fatto progetti, con Kristen?
 «Non ancora. Non abbiamo pianificato nulla».


Si sente pronto per andare a convivere con lei?
«(Canticchia, per mascherare l’imbarazzo) Sono pronto a tutto».

 In "Cosmopolis" there are sex scenes which are quite explicit: weren't you embarrassed?
I was more nervous for the actresses. When a man takes off his clothes he may feel stupid, but in the end he enjoys himself. I think it's different for a woman, more problematic.


 In real life, are you more sweet or passionate? 
Passionate, I hope.

One of your best friends, British actor Tom Sturridge, is having a baby with Sienna Miller. Would you like to become a father?
Sure. Not right now, but yes, of course.

 Have you made any plans with Kristen yet?
Not yet. We haven't planned anything.

 Do you feel ready to move in with her? 
[sings to hide the embarrassment] I'm ready for everything.
